If you’ve been around awhile, you probably know that I’ve had ankle fusion (twice) in the last couple years and you hopefully know that my second ankle fusion went absolutely perfectly. I’ve been able to get back to a mostly normal routine¹ and everyday I wake up and think, “Holy shit. My ankle is perfect.”
This year I’ve gotten to mountain bike race again. I’ve been walking and have flirted with a Couch to 10K program. I even got a kick ass job at a coffee shop.
It was amazing. It was a 5K walk that benefitted my oldest’s ROTC program and I walked the whole thing, WITHOUT ANY PAIN!!!!
Our team of five walkers won third place² (out of three teams – lol) and I can’t wait for my next “on foot” event!
After the race we went for lunch and then headed home. I took a much needed nap, then pampered myself with a Mermaid Mix bubble bath.
I feel like I could take on the world right now and that life is pretty damn perfect.
¹Unfortunately I still have some pretty annoying health issues, but when I look at the big picture, I really can’t complain.
²Oh, and we would’ve totally gotten second place, except one of us (I’ll call her Christine.) made friends with an amazing, 61 year old, veteran and she ended up walking most of the race with him. I’ll forgive you Christine, but next time? WE GO FOR THE WIN! ;)
